Are you having trouble finding a wig for a small head?

Many individuals struggle to find the perfect wig for a smaller head size. Those with petite faces and heads often encounter difficulties in selecting the ideal wig. There are several essential factors to consider when searching for the right wig for a small head. In this guide, we will provide you with a detailed overview of everything you need to know when purchasing small cap wigs.

Selecting a wig that does not fit your head circumference can be bothersome. Therefore, it is crucial to measure your head before purchasing a wig, similar to buying shoes; ensure that it fits properly. Ill-fitting wigs are a common issue that many individuals with small heads are trying to resolve.

Handled properly, this is not a complicated matter. Having a small head is not a negative attribute. However, in most cases, individuals are unaware that their heads are smaller than the average size. Consequently, many individuals opt for a medium-sized wig, only to realize upon delivery that it does not fit correctly. Here's how to measure your head circumference and determine if you have a small head.

HOW DO YOU MEASURE YOUR HEAD SIZE?

Wigs come in a variety of sizes, from small to normal to large, but how do you know which one is best for you? Follow our simple step-by-step guide below to learn how to measure your head for a new wig.

  • Step 1: Begin by pulling your hair up and away from your face, then secure it with a hairband or bobby pin. If your hair is short, try using a cloth headband to secure it at the back.

  • Step 2: Using a soft ruler, wrap the tape around the back of your head where it touches the base of your skull, and bring it forward over your ears. Place the end of the tape at the midpoint of your front hairline. This will measure the circumference of your head. Write down your measurements.

  • Step 3: Place the end of the tape measure over one ear. Bring it over the top of your head and stop at the top of the other ear. Hold the tape measure firmly in place over your ear and note the measurement. This will measure the distance from one ear to the other. Write down your measurements.

  • Step 4: Using a tape measure, place the end of the tape measure in the middle of your forehead. Gently bring the tape measure down the center of your head until it reaches the back of your neck. Hold the tape measure firmly against the back of your neck and note the measurement. This will measure your anterior-posterior distance. Write down your measurements.

  • Step 5: Once you have completed your head measurements, refer to the numbers in the size chart to find the right size wig cap for you.

It is important to consider your body shape and natural hair volume to ensure accurate size selection.

  • If you are petite with medium-length hair, your head circumference may be "petite". If your hair is thick and long, go up a size.

  • If you have average structure and medium-length hair, you are likely "average." If your hair is thick and long, size up. If you have thin or sparse hair, size down.

  • If you have a large head circumference of over 22" and medium-length hair, you are likely "large". If you have thinning or sparse hair, size down.

The fit of your wig on your head is crucial. A good, comfortable fit is essential, especially when wearing a wig for extended periods. Wearing a wig that is too big or too small can lead to problems such as the following:

  • An ill-fitting wig will not stay in place and may result in a less secure fit, making it prone to shifting or slipping.

  • This can make wearing a wig uncomfortable and can even cause headaches or other discomfort.

  • An ill-fitting wig may also not look as natural or flattering as a well-fitting one, affecting your overall appearance and confidence.

4 KEY FOCUSES FOR CHOOSING A HUMAN HAIR WIG FOR SMALL HEADS:

  1. Always choose a wig that matches the size of your head.

  2. Check if the wig you desire is available in the type of hair you are seeking. For example, if you desire versatility in styling and a more natural look and feel, opt for a human hair wig.

  3. Consider other features as well, such as 100% hand-tied, lace front, basic caps, etc.

  4. Pay attention to color. With a wide variety of shades and subtle differences, it's essential to decide beforehand what suits you or the look you want to achieve, as hair color plays a pivotal role in your appearance.
