In Alabama, a 25-year-old woman, Carlethia "Carlee" Nichole Russell, made headlines when she returned home late on a Saturday after a two-day search. The police, along with her concerned family members, had been looking for her ever since she went missing. The reason for her disappearance was that she had stopped on a highway to check on a child walking alone.
According to reports by AL.com, Hoover Police Chief Nick Derzis confirmed that Carlee Russell had safely arrived back at her parents' home in Hoover, Alabama. However, she was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

The situation began when Carlee Russell made a call to 911 and a family member around 10:45 p.m. on Thursday, expressing her concern about a child walking on Interstate 459. Unfortunately, the line got disconnected during the conversation, and she couldn't be reached afterwards.
Despite police finding her car and cellphone, they couldn't locate her or the child she had seen. One witness mentioned the possibility of a gray vehicle and a man near Carlee's car, but no further details were available.
In response to her disappearance, the police urged the public to share any relevant information, while her family members organized search efforts in the vicinity.
Talitha Russell, Carlee's mother, informed AL.com that her daughter was returning home from work and had stopped to get some food before encountering the child on the roadside. The incident happened in a community about 10 miles south of Birmingham. Talitha recounted how Carlee asked the child if they were okay but then screamed during the call.

The line went silent, and only the background noise from the highway could be heard afterward. During the search, two separate rewards of $20,000 and $5,000 were offered for any information that could lead to Carlee Russell's safe return, according to the police.
