This collaboration marks a pivotal moment in the fashion and space industries, as engineers at Prada join forces with Axiom's skilled systems team to craft state-of-the-art lunar suits.

Lorenzo Bertelli, the Prada Group Marketing Director, expressed the brand's forward-thinking spirit and its commitment to embarking on new adventures and frontiers, including space. He stated, "We are honored to be a part of this historic mission with Axiom Space.

Our decades of experimentation, cutting-edge technology, and design expertise, which began with Luna Rossa's challenge for the America's Cup in the '90s, will now be directed towards creating spacesuits for the Artemis era. This collaboration epitomizes the remarkable power of human creativity and innovation in advancing civilization."

The Artemis mission represents a remarkable milestone, as it marks the first crewed lunar landing since Apollo 17 in December 1972 and the maiden mission to place a woman on the moon. Prada and Axiom Space are set to employ groundbreaking technologies and design approaches in their joint effort to develop spacesuits that not only showcase a futuristic aesthetic but also provide vital protection against the rigors of space and the lunar environment.

Axiom, a Texas-based startup, holds a NASA contract to fabricate spacesuits for lunar expeditions and other space endeavors. Michael Suffredini, CEO of Axiom Space, emphasized the significance of Prada's involvement in the project, particularly its technical proficiency in handling raw materials, manufacturing techniques, and innovative design concepts.

These attributes will play a crucial role in ensuring the comfort and safety of astronauts on the lunar surface, addressing human factors considerations that were previously lacking in legacy spacesuits.

The collaboration extends beyond the realm of functionality, as the AxEMU spacesuit is poised to revolutionize astronaut attire with increased flexibility, enhanced protection against the harsh lunar environment, and specialized tools for space exploration and scientific endeavors. These spacesuits will equip NASA with commercially developed human systems essential for lunar missions, enabling astronauts to access, live, and work on and around the Moon in unprecedented ways.

In summary, Prada's foray into the realm of space suit design, in collaboration with Axiom Space, heralds a groundbreaking moment in the fashion and space industries. This innovative partnership not only reflects Prada's commitment to pushing the boundaries of creativity and technology but also contributes to the advancement of lunar exploration, setting the stage for a new era of spacefaring fashion and science.
