She's Single: Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck file for divorce after 2 years of marriage

The greatest love story ever told has just come to an end—Jennifer Lopez has filed for divorce from her husband, Ben Affleck. The news comes shortly after Affleck was rumored to be rekindling his relationship with actress Ana De Armas. The pair began their fling during COVID and were seen taking many walks together, often all smiles.


However, in January 2021, the pair ended things. "Ana broke it off. Their relationship was complicated. Ana doesn’t want to be Los Angeles-based, and Ben obviously has to be since his kids live in Los Angeles." Many have suspected that the divorce between Affleck and Lopez was imminent when she was spotted without her wedding ring, and he did not appear to be in attendance during her birthday celebration.


But what happened? Months ago, the internet did its thing with lip sync readers making videos where it was apparent that the pair would often get together and discuss their children and share the news allegedly of their separation. Separated since April 26, 2024, a source close to Affleck tells She’s SINGLE, "Ben wanted the divorce, but he loves Jennifer enough to know that she would not be able to live down the public humiliation if he were to be the one to file. So, he let her do it."


This makes sense, as the singer has been in some hot water as of late—from her canceled tour due to low ticket sales to many fans sharing their horror stories during their encounters with the international superstar to Lopez overall garnering bad press since the release of her documentary and film, “This Is Me…Now.” During the film, Lopez shared personal notes that Affleck would write her while still married to Garner and after their divorce, during the time she was engaged to Alex Rodriguez.


Needless to say, both parties are messy! But it was apparent that Ben did not take lightly to this, with Lopez teasing, "They now call him Pen Affleck." The actor has pride, and with their personal notes shared with her team and then millions of viewers, plus the public scrutiny, Lopez being a workaholic, staging paparazzi shots, and starting an alcohol line even though Ben is a recovering alcoholic, can all seem to be too much for the Batman actor.


Both Lopez and Affleck have their fair share of being over the top and indecisive when it comes to love, but it seems this may be the last time these two spin the block, and we hope so too, at least for their sake. They may like each other as individuals, but they do not seem to mesh well as a couple. After meeting, falling in love, and getting engaged in the early 2000s—and starring together in 2003’s infamous “Gigli” and 2004’s “Jersey Girl”—the couple parted ways, blaming in part the pressure of the public eye. History looks to be repeating itself. Jennifer, girl, just stay single for a while.
