The controversial lyric has stirred outrage, especially from Richard Kanka, the father of the late Megan Kanka, in whose honor the law was named. Megan Thee Stallion's diss track, titled 'Hiss,' takes a jab at Nicki Minaj's husband, Kenneth Petty, who is a registered sex offender.
The offending lyrics go, "These hoes don't be mad at Megan. These hoes mad at Megan's Law." The use of the term 'Megan's Law' in a context related to a sex offender has sparked criticism and potential legal repercussions.
Richard Kanka, who played a pivotal role in the enactment of Megan's Law, has deemed the lyric "disrespectful" and is contemplating legal action against Megan Thee Stallion. Kanka expressed his dismay, stating that the use of his late daughter's name in such a manner is "highly offensive to the pain his daughter and family felt."

The controversy arises not only from the perceived disrespect towards Megan Kanka's legacy but also due to the ongoing feud between Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj. In the diss track, Megan appears to target Nicki's husband and brother, both with connections to sexual offenses.
Nicki Minaj swiftly responded on Instagram Live, demanding an apology from Megan and even referencing Megan's deceased mother, Holly Thomas.
