by Venus Sanders

Florence Pugh, the talented actress known for her roles in "Little Women" and "Midsommar," faced a shocking incident during a "Dune: Part Two" panel at Comic-Con in São Paolo, Brazil, on Sunday. The 27-year-old actress was hit in the face by an object thrown from the crowd, leaving her visibly shocked.

The incident occurred while Pugh stood alongside her co-stars, including Timothée Chalamet, Austin Butler, and Zendaya, as they posed for photographs close to the edge of the stage. A social media video captured the moment when an unidentified object came from the audience above, landing directly on Pugh's eye. In response, she exclaimed, "Ow," while her co-stars looked to the floor to identify the object.

Chalamet, Butler, and Zendaya showed concern for Pugh, with Chalamet leaning over to ask if she was okay. Prior to the incident, the atmosphere seemed positive, and Pugh expressed her appreciation for working with the cast, mentioning the special feeling associated with the success of the first movie.

This incident adds to a disturbing trend where fans throw items at performers during live performances. In June, Cardi B had a glass of liquid thrown at her during a performance in Las Vegas. Similarly, Kelsea Ballerini experienced an object thrown at her face during a tour performance, leading her to emphasize the importance of shows being a safe place for everyone.

Another shocking incident involved Bebe Rexha, who was struck in the face by a cell phone during a concert in New York City in June. Adele also addressed the issue of fans throwing objects during her Las Vegas residency shows in July, expressing concern about the decline in show etiquette and warning against such behavior.

The trend of throwing objects at performers on stage is not only dangerous but disgusting, and also raises serious questions about the safety and respect owed to artists/actors and actresses during live performances/interviews.

The incidents involving various artists highlight the need for enhanced security measures and a collective effort to ensure that concerts remain enjoyable and safe spaces for both performers and audiences. Concertgoers are urged to adhere to proper etiquette and respect the artists who contribute to creating memorable and entertaining experiences.
